Abstract
This paper discusses the social and economic organizations of the Burusho of Hunza, northern Pakistan. It argues that the socioeconomic organizations of the Hanzakut people are shaped by a unique combination of production strategies they needed to pursue for surviving in this resource-poor and harsh high-mountain enviroment.
