Abstract
Applying the functional-structure approach, Wilbert describes the historical development of the culture and society of the Warao Indians of the Orinoco Delta from pre-Columbian times until the mid-1950s. The author does not give a detailed explanation of the basis for historical reconstruction. A complete description of Warao kinship terminology and kin relationships is provided.
