Abstract
The author, a colonial administrator, draws his material from the notes of Yoro Dyâo, a native chief. The sections of the notebooks presented and commented on in this source are the Legend of nDyadyane nDyaye and of the founding of the Dyolof empire, and the nomination of and installation of kings in the six countries of Senegal. Much information is given on the social and political organization.
