Abstract
The study presented here attempts to describe and explain certain aspects of the way of life of the Miskito Indians who live along the coast and rivers of eastern Nicaragua and Honduras. The focus in this work is on the village of Asang, although there is much discussion on the Miskito culture in general with particular emphasis on those areas of social, economic, political, and religious life which have been most influenced by contact with various agents of the Western world, especially that of the Moravian church.
