Abstract
In this study Barton surveys Ifugao economy. After briefly describing the environment, he discusses native subsistence techniques, and then analyses Ifugao socioeconomic organization (in three chapters entitled 'The Organization of Agriculture,' 'Labor, Capital, and Manufacture,' and 'Commerce'). Short chapters on 'Animal Industry' and 'Forestry' are also included in the latter part of the monograph. This paper is brief yet comprehensive, in that all aspects of the economy are considered, though none are analyzed in detail. This monograph is based on Barton's earlier fieldwork among the Ifugao.
