Abstract
This monograph, written by a well-known professional anthropologist, is a study of Tewa social structure, ceremonial organization, rituals, and supernatural beings, as observed by the author in the communities of San Juan, Santa Clara, San Ildefonso, and Nambé. Very detailed descriptions of rituals and ceremonies are given in this study, but there is relatively little information on the material culture of the Tewa. The appendix contains several folktales from Nambé.
