Abstract
Father Mangin, who lived among the Mossi for many years, mainly in the province of Koupela, and spoke the language fluently, based this account of Mossi customs and institutions primarily upon personal observations and interviews. The book contains information on the history, physical environment, economic life, political organization, marriage and family relations, life cycle, religious beliefs, and general characteristics of the Mossi people. The author's colonial and religious biases sometimes appear, though this work is regarded as a basic work on the Mossi.
