Abstract
This source presents a sociological analysis of the responses to mental aberration exhibited by the Senoi (Semai) of central Malaya. After a brief introductory section dealing with the authors approach to the data, the discussion turns to a study of the specific characteristics of the various diseases described in the text, beliefs about their origins, and methods of treatment. A theoretical analysis of the Senoi data in terms of the conceptual schemes proposed by Wallace, Merton and Lemert regarding their interpretation of mental aberration, concludes this work.
